This visit from the widely acclaimed Serbian filmmaker, Želimir Žilnik, will explore his prolific six-decade career and his films that have documented, anticipated, and critically engaged with pivotal sociopolitical events with an experimental documentary style that blurs filmic genres. For further context of Žilnik's work, SLAV graduate student Dorotea Sotirovska wrote an article for IU's blog Establishing Shot.
His visit is sponsored by the IU Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures, the Robert F. Byrnes Russian and East European Institute, the IU Center for Documentary Research and Practice, and the IU Cinema Creative Collaborations program.
